Lake Bled, Slovenia

Lake Bled

There’s something about a peaceful serene lake that calls to me.  I spent the last two days at Lake Bled Slovenia.  It’s fall now and I’ll admit I’m not a fan of the cold.  But it was worth walking for a few hours in the brisk air to see this amazing lake.  The leaves are all turning and its low season so pictures were amazing.

The walk around the lake is 3.76 miles.  Walking around the lake you get so many different perspectives and photo opportunities its great!  Plus you will run into the town of Bled that is tons of fun to explore.  If you have any questions of where things are just head to the tourist office to get a map and ask your questions.   Also there is a little super market you can go to pick up a picnic.

Most of to rent a boat to get to the island range from around 14-11 euro and hour.  Since I didn’t have time I wasn’t able to make it to the island but it did look beautiful.  The lake is full of fish and there are ducks and geese everywhere.

If you come in the fall though make sure you dress warmly because it IS cold.  Also make sure you have your camera.  You might also want to bring a umbrella or wain protection because you don’t want to get caught in the rain here (trust me.)

While I was in town the first day I was this sign.

Turns out Lake Bled claims to have the best cream cake in the world!  I tried some at the hotel and I will agree with that!  October 5th this year was the 60th annual Lake Bled cream cake festival.  I was fortunate enough to be able to make it and it was so much fun!  But more on that in another post. 😉

Long story short, no matter how amazing you THINK the lake will be it will be better.  So if you ever have the opportunity to get here you should!  It really is beautiful.
