Isn’t a mermaid braid beautiful?  So simple too!  It only takes about 10 minutes maximum.  I love this braid so much because it keeps hair out of my face and doesn’t pull on my hair.

Here’s how you can do a mermaid braid:

Materials:

– 2 small hair bands

– 1 bobby pin

1.  Take a small strand of hair by your ear and three strand braid it till you get to the end then secure with a hair band.

2.  Bring  the braid around the back of your head to your other ear.  Pin in place with the bobby pin.

3.  From the middle of the back of your head take a small strand of hair.  Start a three strand braid.

4.  Then begin adding little strands of hair to your braid from the front of your face.

* At this point you can do the braid two different ways.  You can continue braiding and braid straight down your back.  Or you can begin bringing the braid to either side of your head and braid it over your shoulder.

5.   Continue adding little strands kind of like a variation french braid.  When you run out of the strands then three strand braid to the bottom and secure with a hair band.

6.   Slide the hair band down a ways.  Starting at the top of your braid begin pulling on both sides of the braid.  Continue till you reach the end of your hair.

It took me a couple times to be able to perfect my braid so don’t expect to have a perfect braid right away.  Its a really beautiful braid and I hope you love it as much as I do! 🙂
