The Perfume Capitol

Grasse is known by many as The Perfume Capitol. There are a multitude of perfumeries all over the town. You can go into most of the big perfume factories and sample the different perfumes and in some you can even learn some of the ways that the perfume is made.

If you are in Grasse to buy perfume than I would suggest going onto some of the smaller shops that are off the beaten path for better prices. Make sure that before you purchase the perfume to try it on your skin and walk around a while to see how well the perfume reacts with your skin to make sure it keeps its sent.

On the tours of the perfume factories you learn about how the perfume is made how the sent is kept, what plants are used, and the history of that specific perfumery. also you learn about the different layers of smells. It turns out most perfumes are made with undertones that change as time goes on. So it is very important to make sure you wait at least 15 minutes to see if you like the undertones of your perfume as well.
